About Sonoran Arts League

OUR MISSION
To give to our communities by promoting art, artists and art education.

OUR VISION
To be the premier arts organization.

The Sonoran Arts League is a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer-based, arts service organization dedicated to actively advancing art, artists, and art education. The League began in 1974 as an informal gathering of local artists who put on art shows under the Tamarisk groves in Cave Creek, Arizona. Today, our organization has grown to over 500 members.

The Sonoran Arts League’s Gallery and Office is located in a beautiful space on Easy Street in Carefree, where juried art exhibitions are presented bi-monthly. Featuring the finest work by renowned and emerging Arizona artists, we are excited to be a part of the Arts Destination that is Carefree. New exhibition receptions occur on the third Thursday of the month, in conjunction with Carefree’s Third Thursday Art Walk.

The organization offers high quality art activities, education and programs for a broad spectrum of constituents. Notable programs impacting target groups include: Hidden in the Hills Artist Studio Tour, our signature event that offers opportunity for the public to learn about artists’ techniques from 150+ artists at over 40 Host Studio venues; Empty Bowls Project, benefiting the Foothills Food Bank in support of World Hunger Day & the Sonoran Arts League; scholarships for graduating high school Seniors and summer scholarships for youth arts camps; art events, mentoring and workshops for the youth; Art in Public Places, bringing free art events and exhibits to the general public (in partnership with local towns and municipalities); Veteran Art Program, free art classes and exhibits for military veterans; and art classes and workshops for community members.

The Sonoran Arts League facilitates art events, festivals, exhibitions, shows, group activities and art experiences, including free veteran & youth art classes.
