Since 1997, members and friends of the League have been creating ceramic and glass bowls in support of the Foothills Empty Bowls Project held in conjunction with World Hunger Day. Each year, on the 3rd Friday in October, the public is invited to join us in the Center of Carefree for lunch, donated by the Carefree Resort & Villas, where a minimum donation allows them to choose a bowl, have lunch served in that bowl, and keep the bowl as a reminder of Empty Bowls throughout the world. 100% of the proceeds goes to the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center, approximately $20,000 each year.

Our premier event, Hidden in the Hills, is a studio tour that attracts thousands of art lovers each year, providing them with a unique educational experience ~ seeing how art is created. Participating artists demonstrate their art, answer questions, and give visitors a chance to interact with artists working in a broad range of mediums. The tour takes place the weekends before and after Thanksgiving (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) each year, and about 150 members participate.

"Small Works" is a unique Holiday Fine Art Show. No artwork larger than a 5"x7" painting or drawing. Sculpture is limited to 6" around. Selected jewelry are decorative pins. Perfectly petite gifts of art sold during the month of December. This is a juried show with awards for the Sonoran Arts League members.

Staged by the League each winter in Cave Creek, the Festival of Fine Art is a juried show open to artists from around the country. The high standards for an artist’s acceptance in the show ensure that the visiting public sees high-quality, outstanding artwork in a variety of media.
